Study: Rely On the Lord

The biggest danger in being a Christian is not enduring in the faith to the end. We start off strong, but then, over time, we forget to LOOK UP, and our reliance turns more and more towards man rather than the Lord. It is not a good thing to start off faithful and end up faithless.
King Asa of Judah is an example of a person who started out fully relying on the Lord, but later on in life, he turned away from relying on the Lord altogether. Read 2 Chronicles 14: 1-7.

Before Asa and his army fought their enemies, Asa relied on the Lord fully, and called on Him. Read 2 Chronicles 14: 9-13. The Lord helped Asa and Judah defeat their enemies.

Read the warning and encouragement given to King Asa by the Spirit filled man, Azariah. 2 Chronicles 15:1-2

Read 2 Chronicles 15: 8-19. What was Asa’s attitude in these verses?

But, King Asa later put his trust in man during a time of war. Read 2 Chronicles 16: 1-3.

Read Jeremiah 17: 5, 7 and 2 Chronicles 16: 7-9.

At the end of his life, Asa had no reliance on the Lord, even when he was sick and dying. 2 Chronicles 16: 10-13.

In death, King Asa was honored by man, but was he honored by God? Read 2 Chronicles 16: 14.

The Lord does not want us to wane in our reliance and faith in Him. Read Hebrews 10: 37-39.

Pray to stay full of faith in the Lord to the end of your earthly life.

Lord, I Rely On You

Lord, I do rely on You;
Trust in You
to see me through.

Lean upon You night and day;
Seek Your wisdom
when I pray.

Give to You my heart and soul;
Know You’re in
complete control.

You’re the One I will run to…
Lord, I do rely
on You.

rely on you…” 2Chronicles 14:11
