Study: Praying To The Father

Prayer can be silent or out loud.
When you pray, be very sincere. (God knows your thoughts).
Praise the Father during your prayer.
Thank Him for His goodness in everything.
Acknowledge His Son’s sacrifice for you.
Be humble when making your petition.

Today, most people in the church finish their prayer, “In Jesus’ name. Amen.” In doing so, we acknowledge the Son's sacrifice for us before the Father, and Jesus also said to pray in His name (John 14:14, John 16:23).

God is our Father:
If you’re a baptized believer in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, you have the privilege to address God as “Father” in your prayers. Read Ephesians 3:26-27 and Ephesians 4:6.

Jesus shows us how to pray:
Read Matthew 6: 5-15.

Your attitude when you pray:
Read Mark 11: 24-26
Read Luke 18:9-14 (Be Humble)
Read Philippians 4: 6-7

Examples of prayer in scripture:
1. King David – Psalm 4:1 and Psalm 5:1-3
1. Jonah - Jonah 2: 1-2, 7
2. Elijah - James 5: 17-18
3. By Jesus - Matthew 26: 36-42; Hebrews 5:7
4. By the church - Acts 12:5-10

Pray continually to the Lord. He's waiting to listen.
Read 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
