Study: The Lord's Supper

Jesus instructed His followers (Christians) to eat the bread and drink from the cup in remembrance of His death whenever they come together as a church.

The bread (unleavened) represents His sacrificed body, and the drink (fruit of the vine... grapes) represents His shed blood for our sins.

Read what Jesus said in Matthew 26: 17-30, Mark 14: 22-26, John 6: 47-58, and Luke 22: 7-20.

1 Corinthians 10:16 and 1 Corinthians 11: 17-33 also gives us instructions as to how to participate in the Lord's Supper.

Keep in mind that the cup, together with the bread, and the giving of a prayer of thanks for His sacrifice for us as we remember the Lord's death, are all necessary components of the Lord's Supper.
